Apocalyptica's Time Flow
- Apocalyptica is based somewhere in North America, thus only North American prey animals will be seen, this doesn't extend to dog breeds.
- There are no humans in Apocalyptica's world since they have all mysteriously vanished, leaving their pets behind. There is absolutely 100% no possibility of coming across a human. Not even a human skeleton. The closest thing to encountering a human in Apocalyptica is the statue in Timber Park.
Posting
- Apocalyptica is an intermediate-level RPG site that requires a 100 minimum word count. We require proper spelling, capitalization, and punctuation.
- If you want to post a thread and don't really care who enters your character's story, put the word "OPEN" at the beginning of your thread's subject title.
- Alternatively, if you want a private thread, either mark the thread "PRIVATE" at the beginning of your thread's subject title and tag the members you're RPing with by using @(member's name) OR tag the character's names in the title to let people know who you want in the thread.
- Liquid time is a thing here, but only in a single area. Your character is not allowed to post a thread or a reply in the city and post again in the Mountains. Only Alphas can do this as it makes the pack acceptance process quicker.
- BUT if two weeks have passed without a new post, the thread is considered inactive and your characters can go anywhere else they want.
Character Profiles
- When creating a character, follow the character template given and fill out all of the required information.
- If you're going to use an image, given a link back to the original image and make sure it's okay to repost it.
- But if you're using line art that you've colored in, make sure that the line art shows the artist's name and give a link back to the original image.
- Finally, if you're going to manipulate an image please, please, PLEASE use flickr's creative commons and give a link back to the original.
- Stealing images is bad and can potentially get the forum deleted, so please follow these rules. The staff will remind you to give a link back to the original image if you've forgotten.
- People forget stuff all the time, but negligence with malicious intent will get you banned. (Meaning if you keep doing this when we tell you to stop it's goodbye.)
Colors
- Anything goes, the various magical ponds that can be found in Apocalyptica gives both wolves and dogs oddly colored pelts with few exceptions
- Where the canine lives is sometimes dependant on what colors they get but not always.
- For example; Canines that grow up in the city may have a green hue.
- While canines in the forest can sometimes have rainbow pattens.
- And finally, canines that live in the mountains may occasionally glow.
Breeds/Species
- There are only two species in Apocalyptica: Wolves and dogs.
- Wolves may only be of the timber or grey wolf
- Dogs can only be of the large and medium sized breeds, small dogs would not survive in this world.
- Wolf-dogs are not common in Apocalyptica, wolf/dog couples will only have one pup per litter because of this. Wolf-dogs can only be born into the world of Apocalyptica, they cannot be made via character creation.
- A pair of canines may breeds in any season, but it is the safest to breed in the Spring or Summer.
- Breeding in Winter may result in sickly pups or even losing pups.
- It's not necessary, but a pup born into a pack is safer than a pup born to a pair of loners. Loner puppies tend to have smaller litters.
- To breed two canines fill out breeding form given and post it in the mating/adoption forum.
- It's up to the parents' players to decide who plays which puppy.
- If there are too many puppies or you simply do not want to play a puppy, the Adoption board is always available to find them new homes.
- No Graphic breeding; we're trying to keep this site PG-13, guys. The 13 is for violence.
Powers
- Powers are magical abilities characters can gain through specific ponds and other bodies of water scattered across Apocalyptica.
- Canines can only gain a power by drinking from the water of these special sources of water.
- You must gain one of the powers provided via the power list. Click here to see the list.
- After your character gains a power, that power will create a marking somewhere on the character's body. What form the marking takes is up to the player.
- There are five power levels, everyone starts off at the first level and gradually goes up to the fifth level through practice.
- Post in the pinboard to let mods know when you feel like your character has practiced enough and they will be leveled up.
- However, requests to level up may be denied, so be sure to practice a lot.
- Be sure to not use powers above the level your character currently has.
- On rare occasions a character may be granted with the third level of power, a staff member will alert the player if this happens.
Fighting
- When fighting one on one a staff member may be alerted to moderate the fight though it is nit required.
- Members may moderate their own fights if they choose so, however if either member in the fight complains about powerplaying, mettaplaying, or godmodding a staff member will pop in and moderate the fight instead.
- How to identify powerplaying or godmodding;Example #1:
Bobby attacked Suzy and clamped his jaws around her throat, cutting off her breath. (NO, this is not allowed.)
Example #2:
Bobby attacked Suzy and attempted to clamp his jaws around her thorat. (YES this is allowed.)
Apocalyptica's Time Flow
- The gestation period in Apocalyptica is 3 RL days
- Dogs and wolves give birth around 2 months therefore 3 RL days = 2 Apocalytpica months
- 3 days= 2 months
6 days= 4 months
9 days= 6 months
12 days= 8 months
15 days= 10 months
18 days= 12 months
- 2 and a half RL weeks is 1 year Apocalyptica time.
NPCs
- NPCs are Non-Player Characters.
- There are two types of NPCs; Member NPCs and Site NPCs
- Member NPCs are characters that the member creates to help with their playable character's story.
- Members can pull a character out of NPC status if they want to play them full time or even allow other members to adopt the character.
- Site NPCs help with the site's overall story and bring excitement to member threads if the member chooses to have them.
- Site NPCs can range from docile creatures to those with hostile intent.
- Roaming Pack NPCs
- The world of Apocalyptica is a hostile environment for all canines, because of this the canines have created packs to keep themselves safe in numbers among those they trust the most. These packs have no territories but they have a hierarchy which makes them well organized in attacks. When a territory is claimed, the packs will leave the area but can still be seen skirting along the edges of the territory's borders.
- Roaming Loner Band NPCs
- Not all canines are meant for pack life, but many can agree that the safety of a pack is extremely appealing. These bands have no territories and can be mostly seen in the Hunting Plains though it's not uncommon to find Loner Bands in the main territories as well. These groups of canines have no hierarchy and often fight among themselves whenever there's a grab for power in the group. Less of a threat than packs, the main goal for those in Loner Bands is to feed themselves. When a territory is claimed the loner bands will still cross over the border and poach prey. Packs are advised to assign patrols to the borders to keep this from happening.
- Random Loner NPC
- Loners of both species can be found everywhere in the world of Apocalyptica. They tend to be skittish around pack canines and will only attack other loners.
- Special Loner NPC
- Sometimes your characters will come across a loner that has a more confident spring in their step. This means they are strong and dangerous. These Loners are rare and will only show up in random events. The Power level of the loner depends on the power level of the characters in the random event. Defeating a Special Loner will make them drop a special item for the characters to collect. The character who defeats the Special Loner will determine what goes to whom if the loner dropped anything at all.
