Akalia moves forwards with ease, guided by the glow of the very thing she needs, wants - desires even. She heard of this fountain of power from a coward who crossed her, one who will be speak see or hear again. One who cannot betray her, or give away his knowledge anymore. She licks her lips, red tongue darting out against the cover of darkness, flashing vibrantly against her dark fur. Her ivory white teeth gleam uncannily, the sharp tips seeming ready to pierce flesh at a moments notice.
She's close. The onyx fae moves forward with grace and power, dipping her elegant head down until her lips hover over a glowing blue pool of the water that will provide her power. Unknown to her, it will not give her the ability of her choosing, and it's gifts are limited. It will not let her twist others to her favor, will not allow her the control she desires. Blind to that fact, she lowers her head through the remaining empty space and drinks her full of the cool liquid.
Moments later, she lays on the ground, twisting as spikes of pain shoot through her spine, lacing through her and piercing her from her skin like needless would if emerging from within. Through it, she screams in rage, the fierce sound heard by none. Her lips and tounge move without restriction, cursing the name of he who gave her such flawed information. He who failed to tell her everything, who promised bliss rather than the pain she goes through now.
Second latter, she lays gasping, breathing shallowly before staggering to her paws. Lurching towards the glowing pool, she lets herself drop in, fur soaking through. It cools her skin, taking away the fire she can't see but has been consuming her. As she stands again, feeling a now pleasant shock coarse through her, she smirks. Shaking herself, she sends water flinging in all directions, emerging from the action with a dangerous appeal. Then her shadow writhes, making her frown in confusion. Then it cackles and begins to stretch, finally seeming to settle, taking a near physical form as it gathers the shadows of the cave to it, the action ending as two glowing red orbs gather in the place where eyes should be. It seems to be Akalia herself, but made of swirling shadows and glowing red orbs instead of flesh and bone.
"What are you?" The snarl comes from Akalia, directed with a tone of wary anger towards the dark thing.
" What are YOU?" The reply comes back mockingly, and with a cackle the shadow begins to speak after settling into a dark laughter. " I'm your worst nightmare, dear. I'm you, your shadow. I'm the Queens Shadow, if you please. Nothing but a servant to your physical being." Laughing cruelly again, the shadow bows deeply, sarcastically almost, if an action can even be sarcastic. " Oh, and you might want to see your own reflection deary, get used to your image now cause those streaks ain't going nowhere." The shadows point out with evil glee as it melts back under Akalia.
Kalia, for her part, shakes wi confusion. This is not beta she asked for, and the shades words keep ringing in her mind. I am you . Shaking her head, she walks slowly to the water, and upon seeing her reflection, she understands part of the message, and now knows the reason for the feeling of needles piercing through her skin. Where before her fur had been a pure, unmarred black, now it was mixed with dark, blood red fur streaks that mingled in. They were, for the most part, nearly unnoticeable, but upon further inspection she noticed three jagged lines formed by the blood fur, dragging down from near the spine down to her haunches. The fur was silkier, but mixed in with darker, coarse red, making it seem as if some giant canine had dragged three of its claws down her side, pressing only enough to draw blood.
If that wasn't enough, her shadow began to coil itself around her, twisting diving and turning to envelop her completely, feeling like no more than a rough wind, or a touch of mist. Eventually, she felt a coldness seep into her chest, and upon checking her reflection on still waters, she saw a black glow emitting from her, created by her shadow, by the shade.
